Adopt from Nelson Animal Hospital

As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, Nelson Animal Hospital has put in place an adoption program.

This allows certain animals requiring re-homing to receive appropriate healthcare at our expense prior to finding them a suitable home on a case-by-case basis. We have been very successful with many special pets to date and it is always a delight when we get to see one of our animal friends that we have come to know and love find a caring family.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting one of our current residents below or would like more information please call us at 905-336-2800 or email us at info@nelsonanimalhospital.ca.

Piper

Piper has been with us for quite some time awaiting her purrfect home. She is a big, gorgeous 9 year old spayed female. She loves attention and is quite playful! She would be most happy in a quiet environment with no other animals. A home that she can lay around and enjoy the sunshine coming through the windows would be her dream :) Look at these beautiful green eyes! She is on a hypoallergenic diet and requires a small pill daily which she takes with no fuss.

Come and meet me :)

Successful adoptions below!

Milo found his forever home!!

I am a 4 year old neutered male chocolate lab. I was re-homed to Nelson Animal Hospital because of having occasional seizures at home. So far since being at Nelson, I have been seizure free! I am looking for a new family who will accept me into their home and provide me with the care that I may need. I am super friendly and very smart! I know how to sit, stay, lay down, spin and give a paw. I am also bilingual and like some of my commands given in French :)

I would prefer to go to a home where someone is home during the day with me, or not gone for long hours. This way I can continue to be monitored and not cooped up all day. I also have a lot of energy to burn, so I would love an active family who is willing to spend lots of time doing activities with me!

I have some skin allergies which require me to eat a hypoallergenic diet. This food helps me stay less itchy!

I would also be interested in finding a foster home in the meantime while searching for my furever family. I love it here at the clinic, but it is a busy place and I am feeling cooped up while the girls are busy with appointments. I am also worried about keeping up with my figure and I need space to run and exercise.

Please contact the clinic if you are interested in meeting me!

So far I have not had any issues getting along with other pets!

Marigold & Petunia **We have been adopted!

** updated 06/05/2018

These 4 year old, spayed lop bunnies are looking for a new home. These girls lived the first part of their lives as outdoor bunnies in a large hutch with lots of room to run around and many structures to play on. The hutch is available for anyone who would like it until July. They would also do well as indoor pets as long as they have a large enclosure/area and are allowed out of cage time. They have been using their litter boxes quite well. Petunia came to us with an unresolving corneal ulcer resulting in an enucleation. They are both healthy girls otherwise & are looking for a second chance!

Bunnies are not great starter pets for children and require a lot of work, attention, regular vet visits and a special diet. Please call us if you are interested and we can set up an appointment. *must go together

Eddie has found a new home!

Updated 04/18/18

This boy was found hanging out in someone’s shed for a couple weeks and we are glad he came to us because he is the sweetest! He is approx. 1 year old. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is timid around dogs which is normal but seems to get along with the other cats here at the clinic. He literally cannot get enough attention Please call if you would like to meet him!

Ainsley is a 13 year old spayed domestic short-haired diluted calico. She had been staying with us for some time now while her owner was in the process of moving but unfortunately he can no longer take her with him. She is a giant sweetheart and will show you her affection by drooling on your lap during some cuddles :) She is not currently on any medication but does require a special veterinary diet. Please call to book an appointment to meet her!
